Capsule Geology

The Hall1 (Ying-Yang) occurrence is located on a northeast-trending ridge, southeast of McDame Creek and Allan Lake.

Regionally, the area of the occurrence is mapped as being underlain by Pennsylvanian to Permian basaltic volcanic rocks and fine, clastic, Mississippian sedimentary rocks, both of the Slide Mountain Complex. To the east serpentinite ultramafic rocks and basaltic intrusive of the Permian Blue Dome fault zone (Slide Mountain Complex) are exposed.

Locally, quartz veins host minor, spotty, gold and silver values.

In 1981, a sample (8) from the Ying zone, located on the informally named Ying Creek, which flows north-northwest into Allan Lake, is reported to have assayed 6.3 grams per tonne gold, whereas samples from the Yang zone, located in a parallel creek to the east as the Ying zone, yielded up to 5.3 grams per tonne silver (Assessment Report 10351).

In 1984, eight chip samples (P3356 through P3361, P3186 and P3190) of quartz veins from the ridge top area yielded from 0.7 to 1.5 grams per tonne gold over 0.10 to 1.00 metre (Assessment Report 12523).

Work History

In 1981, Kent Energy prospected and sampled the area as the Duff, Otto, Hall, Amy, Kitt, Neil, Kent claims. During 1984 through 1986, Erickson Gold Mining completed programs of geological mapping, geochemical (rock and soil) sampling and a ground magnetic survey on the Bear, Hale, Kitt and Otto claims.

In 1996, Cartaway Resources Corp. completed a 3678.0 line-kilometre airborne magnetic survey on the area as the Hot Tip property.

In 2006, the area was prospected for placer gold by Jeff Vandette as the Eagle 1-2 claims.

During 2008 through 2010, Hawthorne Gold Corp., later China Minerals Mining Corp., completed regional programs of geological mapping, geochemical (rock and soil) sampling and 11 657 line-kilometres of airborne magnetic, radiometric and electromagnetic surveys on the area as the Cassiar Gold property.

In 2019, Margaux Resources completed a program of prospecting, geological mapping and rock sampling on the area immediately east as the Cassiar Gold property. In 2020, Cassiar Gold Corp. completed a program of regional photogeological interpretation, prospecting and rock sampling on the Cassiar Gold property.
